This page gives you a list of the things you need to start this hobby. The things you absolutely need will be in bold. The others are optional but are recommended.

A Good Camera

This one is a given.
It can range from a really good phone camera to a $600 peice of equipment.

Tripod

This is used to help you keep your camera still to help get the perfect shot.
You can also use any flat surface or practice keeping a steady hand.

Camera Bag

This is a must if you want to take your camera anywhere.
You can buy one off of Amazon for a cheap price or you can make a makeshift one at home. As long as it keeps your equipment safe!

Lighting

This will help you get the right lighting for your shot without changing too much postshoot.
You can buy lights or you can make due with what you have. Lamps, ceiling lights, flashlights, and sunlight can all be used for this.

Lenses

Lenses are used to improve your image. They can chnage the lighting or how close you can get to the subject.
A lot of the lenses can be replicated through an editing software after.

Backdrops

Depending on what you're taking a picture of, you might want to minimize distraction by putting it in front of a backdrop.
You don't need to even buy one if you don't want to. Anything from a blanket to a piece of paper can work as a backdrop.

Props

This can be prefect for protrait shots.
Anything around the house can be used for this. However, you may need to go out and get some depending on what you want to do.

Editing Software

This is a must! All photos should have the option of going through an editior. This can make a huge difference.
You can use photoshop or gimp for this.

Computer

You need a computer to both store your images and edit them.
Anything computer can be used for this. You don't need to go out a buy an expensive computer rig.
